Princeton Girls Ousted from D7 Playoffs

Princeton’s Jada Dillard had a team-high 13 points in the Eagles’ semifinal round loss to Hayfork on Feb. 26.

HAYFORK, CA (MPG) – While adversity may have plagued the Princeton girl’s basketball team this season, to their credit, they persevered and reached the semifinal round of the Northern Section CIF Division VII playoffs.

Unfortunately though the Eagles’ season came to an end last Thursday night in a 28-63 loss to No. 1 Hayfork, after leading scorer Jada Dillard exited the game early with an illness and three others fouled out.

Dillard still led Princeton in scoring with 13 points, while Mackenzie Willis chipped in with six points and Sissy Winn pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Princeton’s Sissy Winn corralled six rebounds for the Eagles in their final game of the season played in Hayfork on Feb. 26.

Concluding the season with an overall record of 12-10, Eagles’ coach Jordan Dillard was more than pleased with the results as he explained.

“The goal that the girls set at the beginning of the season was to make it farther than we did in the 2023-24 season,” Dillard said. “It’s also been 25 plus years since the Lady Eagles made it to the third round of the playoffs. Looking back on this season and realizing that we won five more overall games and accomplished what we set out to do on the first day of practice, I realize how much of a success this season really was.”

Losing just one senior off this year’s squad, Dillard additionally said that he feels the future is bright and that the goal will be the NSCIF Division VII championship.
