WILLOWS, CA (MPG) – Competing against 12 other teams at the Sacramento Valley League Championship Tournament at Willows High School on Feb. 8, Williams finished sixth overall in the team competition and in the process saw all eight of its grapplers qualify for the Northern Section CIF Division III/IV Championships.
Two of the Williams contingent in senior Saul Garcia at 134 pounds and sophomore Ricardo Medina in the 140-pound weight class medaled after finishing third.
Ending the meet just off the podium in fourth place was sophomore Phillip Santillan at 128 pounds and Jesus Zuniga at 175 pounds.
The NSCIF Division III/IV Tournament was held Saturday, Feb. 15 at Modoc High School in Alturas with the top five wrestlers from each weight class advancing to the NSCIF Masters Tournament at Las Plumas High School in Oroville which runs from Feb. 21-22.
