MAXWELL, CA (MPG) – While most of the county’s soccer teams have had some sort of preseason, the Maxwell Panthers are not one of them, but that seemed to have little effect given their blowout 13-0 win over the visiting Trojans in their Mid-Valley League opener on Jan. 6.

A young Durham squad that has been outscored 53-3 thus far had no answer for the Panther attack led Walter Avery, who finished the match with 11 total points, which included four goals and three assists.
Also having a big day was Omar Rosales, who after recording a hat trick also made two assists, while Celestino Corona, struck for a brace of goals in the win.
Massey Baker, Yahir Alcaraz and Victor Martinez also got into the action, scoring a goal apiece.
Maxwell played Shasta Charter Academy in another match last week and won, although no other information was available.

This week was a busy one for the Panthers (2-0) who continued MVL play having hosted Redding Christian on Jan. 13, Los Molinos on Jan. 15 and Hamilton City on Jan. 16.
