MAXWELL, CA (MPG) The Maxwell Parks and Recreation District and Auxiliary Committee hosted Maxwell’s Country Christmas last Friday to the delight of many.
Spectators gathered on a cool but clear evening at the town center, where the Maxwell Fire Department lit the Christmas Tree.

The CHP and Stardust Dance performers led a parade of elaborately decorated farm equipment and semi-trucks, making it difficult for the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce and Ambassadors to narrow down the top three for trophies.
“The parade is always fantastic,” said Director Sue Gibbs. “It was a tough decision to pick the top three. All the entrees did very well.”

Morning Star Packing Company took home the first-place trophy for its Grinch and Whoville Float. Zack Dennis’ lighted bank-out wagon and Christmas dancers earned the Chamber’s pick for third, and Lenahan Trucking’s flaming Grinch float won third.
Stitches Embroidery and Customs of Colusa provided the trophies.
The Stardust Teen Dance Group performed nonstop throughout the parade and won the trophy for best performance.
Entrees included Richter Aviation’s lighted Loader Truck, Williams Hardware Lighted Corvette, Depue Warehouse, Worship in the Barn, CJ LaGrande, Colusa County Mini Miss Reese Cunningham Vedo, Miss Colusa County Allie Wills.
District 4 Supervisor-elect Randy Wilson announced the parade. Gibbs judged the parade, which had 15 entrees, with Chamber Executive Director Jack Cunningham and James Cunningham.

The event included a vendor fair and the Maxwell Park and Recreation District Auxiliary raffle. Proceeds from the event fund improvements to County Christmas, building needs, scholarships, and recreational activities for youth and adults.
