ARBUCKLE, CA (MPG) – There was little doubt as to the outcome in the Bears’ varsity boy’s basketball home opener last Monday night as they crushed visiting Esparto 69-17 in a non-conference match-up.
Entering into his final season for Pierce, Gavin Guynn led the way, pouring in a game-high 22 points in addition to collecting eight rebounds.
Junior Jonathan Vazquez finished with 12 points and senior Devin Garcia pitched in with 11 points on a night where all nine Bears broke into the scoring column.
Two other juniors made notable contributions as well, with JR Figueroa pulling down eight rebounds and dishing out eight assists, along with Michael Acevedo corralling another eight boards.
The Bears (0-1) were in Live Oak on Monday evening ahead of hosting their 53rd Annual Pierce Invitational, which began on Dec. 4 and ends tonight.
