All-League Volleyball Picks Announced

COLUSA COUNTY, CA (MPG) – With the release of the Northern Section All-League volleyball selections, two local players topped the list as Pierce’s senior libero, Macey Myers was selected as the co-Most Valuable Player of the Sacramento Valley League, while Princeton’s junior setter, Lupe Espinoza was the co-MVP in the Pioneer League.

 

A cornerstone of the Bears’ success and their return to the NSCIF championship game, Myers completed her final season with 530 digs or 14.7 per match along with 574 service receptions and 45 aces.

 

Joining Myers on the All-SVL squad for the second place Bears was teammate Maicey Hoebel, a senior middle hitter/blocker that finished the year with 229 kills, 54 blocks and 65 aces.

 

Third place Colusa also received two spots on the All-League team, with seniors Addison Lay and April Guzman garnering recognition.

 

Lay, who set and hit for the RedHawks, recorded 422 kills, 539 assists and 87 aces, while Guzman made 513 digs and 769 returns to go along with serving 47 aces.

 

In the Mid-Valley League, third place Williams had junior Lupita Zuniga and sophomore Ariana Paiz named to the All-League team, while senior Fatima Cano represented fourth place Maxwell.

 

Playing in 83 sets, Zuniga tallied 183 kills, 92 blocks and 64 aces, while Paiz, the ‘Jacket setter, handed out 407 assists in addition to making 252 digs and serving 69 aces.

 

In her last season for the Panthers, Cano, in statistics from just 48 sets, had 119 kills and 26 blocks.

 

For PL co-champion Princeton, Espinoza was the co-MVP, with senior Mariel Parra and junior Reyna Sullivan also named to the All-League team.

 

Espinoza dished out 392 assists and served 92 aces, Parra finished the season with 202 digs and 276 receptions, while Sullivan registered 172 kills and 82 aces.

 

In her first year at the helm of the Eagles, Lisa Pence was named Coach of the Year.

Pierce’s Macey Myers was named co-MVP in the SVL in 2024.
Pierce’s Maicey Hoebel received an All-SVL nod in her final season for the Bears.
Colusa’s Addison Lay earned All-SVL honors in her senior season for the RedHawks.
RedHawk libero Abril Guzman was an SVL pick for third place Colusa.
Williams junior Lupita Zuniga was selected to the All-MVL team in 2024.
