COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa County is ringing in the holidays with a string of events between now and Christmas.
The Colusa Holiday Craft Faire last weekend set into motion the community’s commitment to celebrate.

“We had over 100 vendors,” said Araceli Plaza, Colusa County Fairgrounds exhibit and concession coordinator, who live-streamed the festivities on social media.
Shoppers flocked to the fairgrounds for gift baskets, jams, jellies, personal care products, ornaments, and many unique items offered by crafters and entrepreneurs from all over Northern California.
“I don’t think I’ve missed this event in over 20 years,” said Lynn Sawyer, of Willows. “This is what puts me in the mood for the holidays. Otherwise, I would be a Christmas shopper procrastinator.”
Although vendors can never anticipate how the economy will affect sales, they do well enough to make the two-day commitment worth returning year after year.
Events throughout Colusa County follow the Holiday Craft Faire, starting with Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30, and the City of Colusa’s tree lighting ceremony that evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Colusa County Courthouse.

The tree lighting ceremony on Small Business Saturday marks a change this year that correlates with a location change for the Christmas Tyme in Colusa event.
The Colusa County Chamber of Commerce has joined the Colusa Lions Club, Colusa Rotary Club, and the City of Colusa in hosting the beloved outdoor event, which will take place on Dec. 6 on Main Street – not Market Street.
“One of the things I’m excited about is seeing the water towers all lit up for Christmas,” said Chamber Manager Jack Cunningham. “We think that will be a lot of fun to do.”
The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with music, vendors, food, entertainment, kids’ zone, and Santa’s Village.
Cunningham said the Chamber of Commerce is still scouting for crafters and gift vendors and will take applications until Friday, Nov. 29.
Christmas Tyme in Colusa is just one of many annual events and traditions that welcome people from within and outside Colusa County to celebrate hometown pride during the holidays.
Events include St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church’s Chocolate Festival, the Stonyford Christmas Bazaar, Williams Festival of Lights, Maxwell Country Christmas and Lighted Tractor Parade, the Arbuckle Hometown Holiday Stroll, and performances throughout the county by the Community Christmas Choir.
