Maxwell 27 – Portola 20
PORTOLA, CA (MPG) – Cold temperatures on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevadas did not adversely impact the Panthers, who put points on the board in every quarter and were able to hold off Portola in a Mid-Valley League matchup.

According to Coach Lane Davis his squad never trailed in the game and while he was satisfied to come home with a win, he felt the team did not play quite as well as it had the previous week against Los Molinos.
Davis did however single out the play of Noel Velazquez, whom he said put the team on his back and also credited Tanner Vierra for scoring a key touchdown.
For his part, Velazquez completed 15 of 24 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown in addition to using his legs to run in two more scores.

Meanwhile, Vierra snared three balls for 65 yards and a touchdown and then made a team-high 11 tackles on defense.
\Also contributing to the Panther defensive effort was Erik New and Connor Pearson who recorded eight and seven tackles respectively along with Rosendo Salazar, who made five tackles and intercepted a pass.
Riding a three-game win streak, Maxwell (7-1, 3-1) has its hands full tonight at home against a high-powered Hamilton City team that has averaged 392.6 yards and 42.3 points per game this season.
Williams 16 – Quincy 36
WILLIAMS, CA (MPG) – Struggles to put the ball in the end zone continued last week for the Yellowjackets as they suffered their fourth consecutive loss in Mid-Valley League play.

Manny Rolon completed 16 of 32 passes for 280 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but Williams could not get the ground game going against the Trojans, rushing for only 39 yards as a team.
