More Accolades for Trio of RedHawks

Colusa’s Luke Kalfsbeek was named to the Cal-Hi Sports’ Small School All-State first team in addition to being chosen as a MaxPreps’ Small Town All-American.

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Having been previously rewarded for their efforts in 2024 with All-Northern Section nods, a trio of Colusa RedHawks, including baseball players Luke Kalfsbeek and Sutter Moss along with softball player Ava Garcia, were named to Cal-Hi Sports’ Small School All-State Team in their respective sports.

 

Kalfsbeek, the back-to-back NSCIF Most Valuable Player, earned a spot on the first team as a pitcher after finishing his senior season with an overall record of 11-1, in which he recorded 121 strikeouts and maintained a 0.44 ERA in 64.1 innings on the mound.  Additionally, having completed his high school career with a section record 37 wins (37-2) and 359 strikeouts, Kalfsbeek was named a MaxPreps’ first team Small Town All-American.

The RedHawks’ Sutter Moss earned a spot as an infielder on the Cal-Hi Sports’ Small School All-State Team.

 

Another asset for the section champion RedHawk baseball team was Moss, who in his final season led Colusa in batting average (.455), slugging percentage (.683), runs scored (38) as well as in RBI (34) and was selected as an infielder on the All-State Small School second team.

 

It was a banner season in the circle for Garcia who helped lift the RedHawks to their best record (23-6) since 2017. The rising senior posted 23 wins, fanned 307 and finished 2024 with a 1.27 ERA. As a result she was named to the Small School All-State first team as a pitcher.

Colusa’s Ava Garcia was a Cal-Hi Sports’ Small School All-State first team pick as a pitcher.

 

Cal-Hi Sports has been releasing its various All-State baseball and softball teams for more than 40 years.
