COLUSA, CA (MPG) – The Colusi County Historical Society will host its annual meeting and luncheon, Saturday, Feb. 17, at noon, inside the Friendship Hall, Trinity United Methodist Church, 511 Oak Street.
Guest speaker is Lani Yoshimura, recently retired from 42 years as director of the Gilroy Library. Yoshimura relates the story of her parents, Aki and Hizi (Hinoki) Yoshimura and the close-knit community of Japanese Americans who have called Colusa home since the early 1900s.
Incarcerated by the federal government during World War II, these families treasure their cultural roots but have never doubted for a moment that “We are Americans!”
For more information and to register for the luncheon, visit “events” at colusi.com. Lunch is $22 for members; $24 for non-members.
