Migrant Center Season Extended

COLUSA COUNTY, CA (MPG) – The Office of Migrant Services approved Colusa County’s request to collaborate with local partners to fund the extension of the Williams Migrant Center’s 2023 season. Originally slated to end Oct. 13, the local collaboration funds the extension of the season through the end of the month.

“We appreciate the ability to accommodate the agricultural industry as they wrap-up the 2023 season,” said Anastacia Allen, Colusa County agricultural commissioner and Migrant Center director. “This public-private partnership is a shining example of collaboration in action.”

The Migrant Center provides seasonal housing between the months of April and October for migrant farm worker families during the agricultural season. For six months of the year, migrant workers live in the affordable housing provided by the County while they help bring in the harvest in the surrounding fields. The Migrant Center is funded through the Office of Migrant Services and enters into an annual agreement with the county for maintenance and operations.
