Sacramento River Clean-up Day – Premier Mushroom will host the annual clean-up day at the Sacramento River State Park and Levee Park area. The event is held in conjunction with the California Coastal Cleanup Day in which volunteers join to pick up trash and debris along California waterways to prevent pollution of streams, rivers, and oceans. Join the effort at 9 am at the Sacramento River State Recreation Area, off 10th Street, Colusa. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.
Happy Birthday 80-year-olds – The rescheduled birthday celebration for individuals 80 and up, hosted by the Sacramento Valley Museum, will be held at 11 am on Saturday, Sept. 23. The event will be held in the Alumni Room of the Museum, 1491 E. St., Williams. A catered lunch from Rocco’s will be served at noon. The entry is downstairs and accessible to all. There is no charge to attend the luncheon, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Countywide Caregivers Support Group – Caregivers of individual with Dementia/Alzheimer/Parkinson’s Disease are invited to the monthly meeting of the Countywide Caregivers Support Group. The meeting will be held 10-11:30 am on Sept. 27, at the Colusa First Presbyterian Church, corner of 4th and Jay streets. Come as you are. No prior registration is needed. The meeting provides a confidential and safe place to learn about caregiving tips; sharing memories; walking the same path together; finding compassion and humor; gaining information on how to care for yourself; and understanding symptoms and more.

Author Evening at the Library – Former Colusa resident and notable true crime author, J. Andre Boles, will be speaking at the Colusa County Free Library, 738 Market St., Colusa at 6:30 pm on Thursday, Sept. 28. Author evenings are hosted by the Friends of the Library. Boles, a 1963 graduate of Colusa High School, is the author of “Piercing the LionHeart” and “Monster on Gypsy Hill.” There is no cost to attend the event.

Antique Bottle Show – The annual Antique Bottle Show at the Sacramento Valley Museum will be held Oct. 6-7. Early Birds can get in to pursue the many bottles, collectibles, and antiques on Friday, Oct. 6, from 10 am to 4 pm for a special admission of $20. The museum is located at 1491 E. St., Williams. Stagehands Presents “Our Imaginary Friends” – The Stagehands will present “Our Imaginary Friends,” a play written and directed by Nicole Helms and Susan Gibbs, on Friday, Oct. 6. Doors Open at 6:30 pm; curtain up at 7:15 pm. Tickets are available at the door for $15 for adult; $10 for students/children. Stagehands Theatre is located on the Colusa County Fairgrounds; use 9th street entrance.

Maxwell Zombie Fun Run – Maxwell Park and Recreation District Auxiliary will host the 2023 Zombie Fun Run at the Maxwell Elementary School, 146 North St. on Saturday, Oct. 21. Come out and enjoy a pancake breakfast before the festivities. Choice of pancakes, pumpkin pancakes, sausage, fruit, coffee, milk, or orange juice. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 10:30 AM; $6 for ages 4 and up. Registration for the run starts at 8 am. Run, jog, or run a 1-mile or 5k through zombie infested, post-apocalyptic Maxwell at 9 am. Adults $15; Youth $10 for ages 7-17. Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards will be given in multiple categories and awards for fastest time and Best-Looking Zombie. Children 6 and under and strollers are welcome to participate at no cost with adult supervision. There is also a free vendor fair.
