Guerra de Tacos
The Williams Recreation Department is looking to find out who makes the best tacos. The inaugural Guerra de Tacos (Taco War) will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 from 1-4 pm in Venice Park (behind the Sacramento Valley Museum). Limited space available to the first 15 teams to sign up. The cost is $50 per team and entries must be received by Friday, Sept. 8.
Teams can also compete for Best Hot Sauce, which is an optional competition with a $5 entry fee. Teams must supply their own meat in the following categories: Asada, Adovada, Chicken, Chorizo. Tacos will be judged on taste (400 points), tenderness (200 points), aroma (100 points) and presentation (100 points). Standard health and safety rules and precautions apply. Awards will be given to the top three teams.
Tacos will be judged by a pre-selected panel, and teams will be able to sell their entered tacos to the community for $2. Specialty tacos that are prepared outside of the competition (not judged) can be prepared and sold at vendor’s set price.
You can sign your team up at City Hall, 810 E. St., Williams. For more information, contact Ben Padilla (530) 235-3277 or bpadilla@cityofwilliams.com.
