Lunch for the Hungry – Hand Up is serving a free meal to anyone who needs it each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Pick up meals from noon to 12:15 pm at the Colusa Presbyterian Church, 4th and Jay, Colusa. A Hand Up is a nonprofit Interdenominational Christian Charity, which has long received food Market Street Grill and Louie Cairo’s. With the loss of Cairo’s to fire, the local organization is asking for monetary donations to help with food. Levett Amp Free Concert Series – Come and enjoy the musical talents of Clementine Was Right in Veterans Memorial Park, 10th and Market St. in Colusa. Concert begins at 6:30 pm. Bring your own blankets and chairs. Activities available for kids. Sacramento River Firefighters will provide the food.

Story Time at the Arbuckle Family Action Center – Join the “And Literacy for All” and the Arbuckle Family Action Center, 812 King St., in Arbuckle, for story time at 10 am on Thursday, Aug. 24. Open Garden/Winter Garden Workshop – The Colusa County Master Gardeners will host an open garden (free u-pick) event from 10-11 am, on Saturday Aug. 26, at the Donna Critchfield Demonstration Garden, 499 Marguerite St., Williams. Peppers, squash, cucumbers available. There will also be a no-cost winter garden workshop for the public learn about growing winter vegetables.
State Duck Call Championship – The California State Duck Calling Competition, a waterfowl tradition, will be held Aug. 26-27 in Veterans Memorial Park in Colusa, 10th and Market Street. Opening ceremonies will be held at 9 am on Saturday, Aug. 26, followed by the Butte Sink Regional Duck Calling Contest (World Championship qualifier) at 10 am. Afternoon events include a California State Live Duck at 1 pm; California State Speck at 2:30 pm; Concert in park w/beer truck from 4-6 pm; White Cattle Company Trap Tournament 6-7:30 pm. State Duck Call Championship – The California State Duck Calling Championship (World Championship qualifier) will be held Aug. 27 at 10 am in Veterans Memorial Park in Colusa, 10th and Market Street. Sunday will be Youth Day with Jr. and Intermediate Duck Calling (16 and under) at a 11 am; Junior and Intermediate Speck (16 and under) at $11:30 AM; and CA State Two-man Meat at 2 PM.
