4-H still exhibits coming back strong

Members of Colusa County 4-H clubs were recognized on Saturday for their photography, arts and crafts, scrapbooks, decorated cakes, home furnishings, LEGO projects, woodworking, and other projects.

The annual “Anything But Animals” Still Exhibits Day brought out the best in creativity.

The event had about 90 entries, an increase from the past few years during the pandemic.
“It’s good that things are getting back to normal after COVID,” said Dawn Brown, Maxwell 4-H leader.

Clubs participating included Stonyford, Arbuckle, Princeton, and Maxwell 4-H.
Gold medals were given out to outstanding entries. Second and third place ribbons were also awarded.

Best of Show rosette ribbons were awarded to members who received gold medals in all categories with three or more exhibits.

First year Arts and Crafts participants included Esther Pendell, Jessica Evans, Ethan Pendell, Cole Rothweiler, Annika McBee, of Stonyford 4-H; and Owen and William Vann of Arbuckle.
Beginning (1-2 years) members participating included Wyatt Roach, Jadyn Roach, and Sofia Figueroa Daehn, of Princeton 4-H; Ellie Pendell, Ember Pendell, Hagen Troughton, Lucas Evans, Brooke Rothweiler, Ricky Rubini, and Khaleesi McBee, of Stonyford 4-H; and June Karlonas, Ellie Mord, and Tyler Garrison, of Maxwell 4-H.

Louis Minutti participated in Intermediate Arts and Crafts (3-4 years) and Bianca Minuetti participated in advanced (5 or more years). Both are members of Maxwell 4-H.

Beginning photography participants included Boone Murphy, June Karlonas, Maxwell 4-H; Max Jacob Vann, Sophia Oliveros, and Teagan Murphy, of Arbuckle 4-H.

Intermediate participants were Gia Rudiger and Louis Minutti, of Maxwell 4-H.

Bianca Minutti participated as advanced.

Beginning Scrapbooking participants included Jadyn Roach, of Princeton 4-H; and Kaydence Reagan, Korrine Reagan, Serenity Mahone, Ellie Pendell, and Ember Pendell, of Stonyford 4-H. Wyatt Roach, of Princeton 4-H, participated as an intermediate.

Ember Pendell, of Stonyford 4-H, participated in beginning woodworking and beginning Cake Decorating. Ellie Pendell also participated in beginning Cake Decorating.

Luis Minutti, of Maxwell 4-H, participated in intermediate Home Furnishings; Bianca Minutti participated as advanced.

Max Jacob Vann, of Arbuckle 4-H, entered the new LEGO project category as a beginner.

Gold medal recipients were Jadyn Roach, Ember Pendell, June Karlonas, Ellie Mord, Wyatt Roach, Bianca Minutti, Gia Rudiger, Sophia Oliveros, Louis Minutti, Max Vann, Ellie Pendell.

Best of Show ribbons were awarded to Ellie Mord, Bianca Minutti, Louis Minutti, Max Vann, Ember Pendell.

The 4-H “Anything But Animals” Still Exhibit Day has been going on for about 20 years.
The event was held in the Maxwell Elementary School multipurpose room. ■
