Colusa County 4H Week is quickly approaching and slated for Jan. 23-29.
Each year, 4-H Week takes place during the fourth week of January.
This year’s theme is “Opportunity for all.”
“The week was created in 2021 as an opportunity for our local Colusa County 4-H Youth Development Program and Clubs to be recognized and more visible in our communities,” said Nicole Marshall-Wheeler, 4-H development advisor.
Each club in Colusa County will decorate a window, in accordance to what they believe the theme means.
“This year was very exciting as I had a 4-H member, Jadyn Karlonas, completely take on the project, and she did an amazing job,” said Chelsea Dirks, Maxwell club leader. “It’s refreshing to see a member take on such a huge role and project.”
On Wednesday, Jan 25, Maxwell 4-H members will wear green to spark conversation and interest in the community. Two of the 4-H Week displays will be at the Maxwell Parks and Recreation Office (Maxwell 4-H) and the Princeton Elementary School Office (Princeton 4-H). These displays will be in place by Jan 22.
“In addition to the window displays, we will have a banner that hangs above the intersection of Market and 5th Street in Colusa,” said Kelli Griffith-Garcia, Colusa club leader. “This week is used to advertise the many great things that 4H offers to our youth.”
Colusa County 4-H strives to build hard working leaders that will be a valuable asset to not only their clubs, but their communities.
“My favorite part of Colusa County 4-H Week is the opportunity it presents our Clubs to increase their visibility and work together on a display,” Marshall-Wheeler said. “In the past, we’ve received proclamations from the Board of Supervisors and we love their recognition and support of our program.” ■
