The Colusa County Clerk/Recorder Office certified the results of the Nov. 8 election on Nov. 30, which were accepted by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
Measure A, a special Emergency Medical Ground Transport Transactions and Use Tax, which needed 66.6 percent of favorable votes to pass, was approved with 69.20 percent of the votes, once all ballots were counted.
The Board on Tuesday also introduced an ordinance to adopt the sales tax of one half of one percent on the sale of all taxable/tangible goods sold within Colusa County to fund emergency medical ground transportation services within the county.
The ordinance is expected to receive final approval at the Supervisors’ first meeting in 2023 on Jan. 3 so the tax increase can go into effect possibly by March and a request for proposals can move forward.
The county expects to start receiving revenue from the tax increase on July 1.
The Board also plans by March 1 to establish a seven-member advisory board composed of citizens from each of the five supervisorial districts and two members from the first responder community, officials said. â–
