Sheriff’s Office to get new wheels

The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved the purchase of an unmarked vehicle for the Sheriff’s Office utilizing a State of California contract through Downtown Ford Sacramento. The Sheriff’s Office requested the $68,535.84 vehicle to replace an older, worn down vehicle in their current fleet, officials said. Due to lingering supply chain issues, making model availability limited, the Sheriff selected a new Ford Expedition 4×4, which is currently available.

The board also approved the Sheriff’s request to outfit three 2023 patrol vehicles with special equipment. The Board determined that competitive bidding is not in the public’s best interest for this purchase because it would require man hours to take the vehicles to Sacramento and the Bay Area and their subsequent return, making the process not cost effective.

The purchase and installation of equipment will be done through Sutter Buttes Communications, Inc., in the amount of $36,559.43. Some of the equipment includes a dual gun rack system, scanner with programming, cargo partition, and magnetic mic clip.
