Maxwell resident goes above and beyond

It’s amazing what a lemonade stand can still accomplish.

As local county and surrounding county animal shelters are nearing capacity, Maxwell resident Norma Medina hoped her efforts will bring some joy.

Medina collected about $150 in cash donations, blankets, food, chew toys, and towels for shelter dogs and cats on Saturday at the Maxwell Chevron.

“This is my second time raising money and collecting items for animal shelters,” Medina said. “So many lost, abandoned, and surrendered fur babies are pouring in. I hope to ease their time in shelters with soft blankets and new chew toys.”

Colusa County animal shelter has been inundated with strays over the past few months and Glenn County Animal Shelter is at full capacity.

Donations collected on Saturday will help both shelters, Medina said.

If you are considering adopting an animal, contact the Colusa County Animal Shelter at (530) 458-0229 or Burnham’s Veterinary Clinic (Glenn County Animal Shelter) at (530) 934-3311.
