The Williams City Council on Sept. 21 appointed two people to fill vacancies on the Williams Parks and Recreation Commission. The council appointed Jose Lepe, the Commission’s nomination, and Mayra Cortez, the Williams Unified School District’s nomination. Both nominees expressed enthusiastic interest in serving on the Commission, officials said. Lepe, who is relatively new to Williams, served as soccer coach this year and said he would like to get more involved to help make activities fun and enrich residents. Cortez brings leadership and customer service skills and has made it her goal to network and engage the community for the betterment of the city’s recreation program. ■
