Colusa County Clerk/Recorder Rose Gallo-Vasquez has certified the results of the June 7 statewide direct primary election.
While Colusa County had a number of uncontested elected positions on the ballot, allowing for winners to be declared, two positions will not be decided until a run-off election is held on Nov. 8.
Certified election results show only one point separated candidates Richard Selover (412 votes) and Janice Bell (411 votes) for the District 5 Supervisor seat that will be vacated by Denise Carter on Dec. 31.
A total of 992 out of 2,198 (45.13%) District 5 voters cast a ballot.
In the Clerk/Recorder race to replace Gallo-Vasquez, who is retiring Dec. 31, Cristy Edwards garnered 1,573 votes to Amy Rennick-Schmidt’s 936.
According to Gallo, Only 3,587 of Colusa County’s 10,071 total registered voters (35.62%) cast a ballot in the June 7 primary.
Of those, 3,019 are registered voters in Colusa, with 1,209 (40.05%) casting a ballot. Williams has just 1,956 registered voters but only 372 (19.02%) voted. In the unincorporated area of Colusa County, 5,096 are registered to vote; 2,012 (39.48%) voted on June 7.
The Colusa County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday accepted the certified results. ■
