Bright Vista Youth Center opens in Colusa

Community members and youth flock to Bright Vista Youth Center in Colusa on July 20 for the center’s open house and official launch of its engaging services that engage youth ages 12-17 in fund and constructive activities.

Colusa County officially opened Bright Vista Youth Center in Colusa on July 20, welcoming city and county officials, adults, youth, and community partners to an open house.

The new youth center is open 11 AM to 4 PM, Monday-Friday for the rest of the summer, then will go to a late afternoon-evening schedule and Saturdays after school starts in August.

Bright Vista is a “drop-in” center dedicated to helping Colusa County youth, ages 12-17, learn techniques that will enhance their social, coping, and leadership skills through supportive workshops and structured daily activities, officials said.

The program is a joint effort of Colusa County Behavioral Health, Probation Department, and the Colusa County Office of Education, and is funded by the Mental Health Services Act.

Officials said Bright Vista is a place where youth can enjoy snacks, play video game, and air hockey, and board games, which allows them to interact with their peers in a safe environment, as well as participate in wellness groups or various workshops to explore education and career interests, all at no cost.

Youth are welcome to access and utilize the youth center once a membership packet is completed with their primary caregiver.

Bright Vista is located at 304 5th St., Colusa. For more information, call (530) 458-0755.
