Election run-off likely in November

Although Election Day results are a thing of the past, now that mail ballots need only have an Election Day postmark – preliminary results indicate that there will likely be a run-off for Colusa County’s only two contested races: Clerk/Recorder and District 5 Supervisor.

Cristy Edwards was the clear leader for Clerk with 729 votes counted by Tuesday. She will likely face off against Amy Rennick-Schmidt, with 441 votes, in the Nov. 3 general election.
Amy Greenhalgh picked up 345 votes on Election Day.

Janice Bell, with 228, was also at the top for counted ballots for the District 5 seat on the Colusa County Board of Supervisors. She will likely face Richard Selover, with 174 votes, in a Nov. 3 run-off.

Maricly Acree received 80 votes on Election Day.

Supervisor Merced Corona; Assessor Arnie Gross; Auditor-Controller Robert Zunino, District Attorney-elect Brendan Farrell, Sheriff-Coroner Joe Garofalo; Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan Charter ran unopposed and will be sworn in January 2023.

Election Day drop off ballots and ballots received in the mail within 14 days with the June 7 postmark will continue to be counted. Results are not final until certified by the Board of Supervisors. ■
