The Colusa County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday appointed Dawn Nissen to serve on the board of the Williams Cemetery District. Nissen will serve the remainder of an unexpired term of DeEtta Mayberry, effective May 24 through March 22, 2023. In April, Mayberry resigned from the board, effective May 1.
“I have found it to be a very gratifying experience to serve on this board over the years,” Mayberry said.
A notice of vacancy was published on April 21, and only one application for appointment was received.
Nissen brings a wealth of knowledge to the position, having recently retired as the secretary and manager of the Williams Cemetery District.
Serving on the board – instead of serving the board – will allow Nissen to continue to remain involved.
Nissen meets the requirement of being a voter in the district.
“I will be an active board member and I bring to the board all my years of knowledge regarding the cemetery in every realm,” Nissen said.
In addition to Nissen’s appointment, the Board of Supervisors appointed Linda Aulgur to the College City Cemetery District to serve the remainder of an unexpired term effective May 24 to February 20, 2024.
With one vacancy on the board, Aulgur submitted the only application for the appointment. Aulgur meets the requirement of being a voter in the district.
