The City of Williams is working with Caltrans to make necessary safety improvements at the intersection of Highway 20 and Marguerite St, where motorists access Love’s Truck Stop. The city completed its Local Road Safety Plan shortly after CalTrans conducted a safety audit on the State Route 20 corridor last November. City officials said both actions identified a need for traffic control at the intersection, which has been the scene of numerous traffic accidents. The first step in the process will be the completion of a Project Initiation Document, anticipated to cost around $110,000. The Williams City Council at their last meeting directed City Administrator Frank Kennedy to negotiate a cooperative agreement with Caltrans for the completion of the document. The PID will be used to pursue funding.
