Wymore selected Officer of the Year

Williams Police Officer Wade Wymore, left, was recognized by Chief Jim Saso as the 2021 Police Officer of the Year during a brief ceremony at the Williams City Council on Jan. 19, 2022.

One of the City of Williams’ newest police officers is also one of their best.

Williams Chief of Police Jim Saso last week recognized Officer Wade Wymore as the 2021 Police Officer of the Year.

Officer Wymore, formerly a Colusa County Sheriff’s deputy, has been employed by the Williams Police Department since March 25, 2020, and is assigned to the city’s patrol division.

“Officer Wymore is recognized by all in our department as a hard worker, exhibiting strong teamwork qualities, and is always willing to assist others with their duties,” Saso said, when presenting the award at the Williams Council meeting on Jan. 19. “He is liked and respected by his co-workers, professional peers, and members of the community.”

Saso said Wymore is a great asset to the city and community. He is currently one of two certified BolaWrap Instructors, and serves as a field training officer. Despite having a relatively short law enforcement career, Saso said Wymore has demonstrated a great ability to quickly learn the basics of law enforcement and has excelled considerably.

“Officer Wymore has a reputation for genuinely caring for and being deeply committed to the policing profession and the citizens we serve,” Saso said.

The presentation was well attended by Wymore’s family and the City Council thanked the officer for his service.
