A major case investigation for April was the daytime burglary which occurred at Kittles Outdoor & Sport Co. Dejon Stewart, 18, of Colusa, is accused of reaching over the gun display case and stealing a handgun. Stewart was arrested after a search warrant was served at his home. The handgun was never recovered, officials said.

Another major case investigation is the murder of Giovanni Alcaraz, 19, of Williams. Christian Suarez has been identified as the suspect in the murder and his whereabouts is currently unknown. The U.S. Marshals Office and the District Attorney is assisting in the investigation, according to Colusa Chief of Police Josh Fitch.

Fitch said it should be noted that CPD arrests have been down, but citations have increased as a result of efforts to slow or stop the spread of COVID-19 in the jail.
