A 2013 graduate of Williams High School is stepping into the local political sphere as the newest member of the City of Williams planning commission.
Omsher Sahota, 23, was appointed to the position at Wednesdays regular meeting of the Williams City Council. He joins Nancy Marshall, Steven Jeet, Sajit Singh, and Marcie Voorhees on the commission.
In his application, Sahota said he has always wanted to be a part of local politics in Williams, where he was raised, to help bring positive change to the community. He added that the planning commission was just ” the starting step.
” I always wanted to be a part of this city council, or some sort of political party in this town, and this is a great opening for me,” Sahota said. ” I really appreciate it.
The appointment of Sahota fills out the planning commission to a full five members, although an alternate position remains unfilled, said Frank Kennedy, city administrator. –
