Meet your Colusa County Transit Driver: Cindy Vaughn

CindyVaughnLongtime Colusa resident, Cindy Vaughn, truly loves her job.

” I enjoy working at the Colusa County Transit as a Bus Driver,” said Vaughn, ” Every day is different.

For over 10 ½ years, Vaughn has worked for the Colusa County Transit and logged over 400,000 miles.

” I love to drive and to be outside; I am just not an inside kind of gal,” said Vaughn, ” my bus is my office, with a great view.

Vaughn commented that she enjoys watching the season change from the drivers seat of her bus.

” I am blessed to live in such a beautiful little town.

Vaughn recalls some of her favorite memories while driving for the Colusa County Transit.

” I loved taking a group of kids to a dinner in Sacramento for their prom,” said Vaughn, ” I decorated my bus with Christmas lights, and a disco ball. It was great!

Vaughn also commented about taking a group of ladies to San Francisco on a shopping trip.

” Most people do not know that we offer a Charter service,” said Vaughn, we are more than just a dial-a-ride; we offer exceptional service and will make accommodations for those with disabilities.

From helping passengers load and unload groceries, to helping carrying packages to their door, Vaughn says that they can hoist passengers who are unable to walk up-and-down the bus steps by using the wheelchair hoist.

” We realize how hard it is to load your loved one into the car for a quick trip to the doctor,” said Vaughn, ” Give us a call and let us help you!

Driving the transit bus is not easy, and often comes with criticism.

” Weve been yelled, and cursed at many of times for blocking a driveway or parking spot while loading or unloading a passenger,” said Vaughn, ” We do our best to be quick, while being safe – please have patience and show some compassion, we are all going to be here someday.

Though Vaughn loves being in her bus; she also enjoys her co-workers.

” We have had some great Christmas Parties,” said Vaughn, ” Christy and I would make up a Transit Rap song to Christmas carols, good times!
