MAXWELL, CA (MPG) – Mathews Readymix LLC, a subsidiary of Teichert Construction, has opened a concrete production plant north of Maxwell, expanding its operations into Colusa County.
The facility, located at 4328 Old Highway 99W, will supply concrete for residential, commercial and public works projects throughout Colusa and Glenn counties.
Company officials marked the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Teichert Construction President Mary Teichert, Teichert Materials Vice President Christian Brown, Mathews Readymix General Manager Casey McDermott and Plant Manager Chad Christie.
The Maxwell location adds to the company’s existing operations in Oroville, Chico and Yuba City, extending its service area into the northern Sacramento Valley.
During the ceremony, McDermott discussed the company’s investment in the facility and its potential impact on construction projects throughout the region.
“Today we’re not just cutting a ribbon on a building,” McDermott said. “We’re opening the doors on something that will help shape the roads we drive, the bridges we cross, and the buildings where our communities will live and work for decades to come.”
McDermott credited the planning, engineering and construction work that went into developing the facility.
“This plant represents a serious investment in our future,” he said. “It’s the result of careful planning, skilled engineering, and the hard work of every person who poured their time and expertise into getting it built.”
According to McDermott, the facility will create employment opportunities and improve access to concrete supplies for construction projects in the surrounding area.
“This facility will bring new jobs, new opportunities, and a more reliable supply of the material that nearly every project depends on,” McDermott said.
The opening marks another chapter for a company with roots in the northern Sacramento Valley dating back nearly 80 years.
Gordon Mathews founded Mathews Readymix in 1947, opening the company’s first concrete plant in Gridley. Although that facility no longer operates, the company expanded into other communities, establishing plants in Oroville, Chico and Yuba City.
Mathews Readymix joined the Teichert family of companies in 2020 and now operates as a subsidiary of Teichert Construction.
The company produces concrete for residential construction, commercial development, public infrastructure and specialty applications.
McDermott said the company intends to maintain its focus on workplace safety, product quality and relationships with the surrounding community as operations begin in Maxwell.
