Colusa Task Force Conducts Narcotics Crackdown

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – A multiagency law enforcement operation in Colusa County resulted in several arrests, the seizure of illegal firearms and narcotics, and the recovery of a stolen vehicle during a three-day enforcement effort targeting drug trafficking and related criminal activity.

The Colusa County Task Force joined several local and state law enforcement agencies Oct. 5-8 for Operation Central Valley Blues, conducting around-the-clock enforcement throughout the county.

The operation involved the California Highway Patrol’s Northern Division K-9 unit, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Colusa Police Department, Colusa County Probation Department and Colusa County Sheriff’s Office.

During the operation, task force agents and participating officers executed five residential search warrants within a 36-hour period. The searches resulted in the seizure of a stolen firearm and evidence related to drug trafficking. Officers also arrested individuals wanted on felony warrants.

Law enforcement personnel conducted more than 40 traffic stops on average during each 12-hour shift. Those stops led to multiple arrests, including individuals identified by authorities as criminal street gang members.

Officers also seized an illegal firearm and narcotics and recovered a stolen vehicle during the traffic enforcement efforts.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the operation focused on disrupting criminal trafficking along Interstate 5, Highway 20 and other major transportation routes in Northern California.

The Sheriff’s Office credited coordination among participating agencies for the operation’s results and said the Colusa County Task Force would continue targeting narcotics trafficking, illegal firearms and related criminal activity.

The Sheriff’s Office did not provide the total number of arrests, the identities of those arrested or the quantities and types of narcotics seized.
