COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa County property owners will receive their annual property tax bills in October, and the county Tax Collector’s Office is reminding taxpayers of an option to spread their payments throughout the year.
The county is highlighting Easy Smart Pay, an online payment service that allows property owners to divide their annual property tax bills into automatic monthly payments rather than paying larger amounts twice a year.
The service collects monthly payments from participating property owners and holds the funds in a taxpayer trust account. It then sends the full installment amount to the county before the delinquency deadline.
According to the Tax Collector’s Office, the program helps property owners manage their household budgets while avoiding penalties associated with late payments.
Property owners who enroll can make payments through automatic bank transfers without additional fees. Those who prefer to use a debit or credit card will pay a 1.99% processing fee.
After enrollment, the service automatically renews each year on a 12-month payment schedule. Participants can modify or cancel their payment plans at any time.
Easy Smart Pay operates as a payment processing service in partnership with county tax collectors. It is not a lending institution, bank or escrow company.
To enroll, property owners can visit easysmartpay.net and locate their property using its street address or assessor’s parcel number. They can then select a payment method and establish a monthly payment schedule.
The Tax Collector’s Office encourages property owners to review their tax bills when they arrive and make arrangements to pay before the applicable deadlines.
Property owners who prefer other payment methods can find information about tax deadlines and payment options through the county’s website at http://countyofcolusaca.gov/721/Tax-Payments.
