The Colusa County Fair has extended the deadlines to enter the Miss Colusa County and Mini Miss pageants, organized by The Stagehands, hoping to spark more interest in the competitions.
The new deadline for entering the pageants is April 28.
“We need a minimum of five entries per group in order to move forward with the pageants,” said Fairgrounds Chief Executive Officer Laura Ford.
According to promoters, Miss Colusa County is a scholarship program that fosters youth accomplishments, community service, academic achievement, and recognition for excellence. The program also enhances personal development in self-confidence, communication skills, and good sportsmanship.
Miss Colusa County contestants must be at least 16 years old and no older than 19, as of June 1. The entry/sponsor fee is $150 per application.
The Mini Miss Colusa County Pageant, which will be held in the grandstands on June 8, prior to opening day, is also a unique program, officials said.
The Mini Miss pageant provides an opportunity for contestants ages 9-12 to gain poise, self confidence, and good sportsmanship. The entry/sponsor fee is $150.
The Mister Cinderfella Pageant is open to high school boys, who have the opportunity to win a $1,000 donation in his name to a high school or club and a $500 scholarship. The application fee is $20.22 per contestant.
The Mister Cinderfella pageant, organized by the Junior Fair Board, has also extended its deadline, fair officials said.
All pageant entry forms must be filled out and returned to the Fair office, 1303 10th St., Colusa, by 5 PM on April 28.
The Colusa County Fair will be held June 9-12. ■
