The Friends of the Colusa County Library is hosting another fun-filled event showcasing Diane Power Zimmerman, author of “Nut Tree: From a California Ranch to a Design, Food, and Hospitality Icon.”
The book chronicles the 100-year history of the Nut Tree, a legendary road stop in Vacaville, which was founded by the Power family in 1921.
The author’s evening will be held at 6:30 PM on March 31, in the Colusa Industrial Properties Conference Room, located at 100 Sunrise Blvd, and is open to the public at no charge.
Zimmerman is the granddaughter of the founders of Nut Tree, on Interstate 80, and will be in Colusa sharing the Nut Tree story of how the establishment changed the entire area from agriculture to a highly sophisticated marketplace, attracting visitors all around the world.
In her book, Zimmerman uses her own memory; interviews with family members, employees, and neighbors; as well as newspaper archives to tell the story of this historic part of Northern California.
The public is welcome to meet Zimmerman and learn more about her and the book. ■
