The Colusa Police Department reported there were 295 calls for service for patrol officers in March with 24 agency assists. The call volume was slightly higher compared to the month of February, which was 276, according to the report of Lt. Sara Martin.
“Although we are early in the new year, we continue to maintain a lower call volume compared to 2022,” noted Martin.
During March 2023, there were 10 in-custody arrests. There were three citations issued in lieu of subjects being booked in jail, and there were two domestic violence related arrests made. There were no DUI related arrests made. There were 32 reports initiated.
During the month of March, officers initiated 136 traffic enforcement stops. There were 37 citations issued. Several of the citations issued were for stop sign violations and vehicle registration violations. There were two reportable traffic collisions.
The Police Services Manager handled 93 calls for service during the month of March. These calls for service don’t include telephone calls handled by the Police Services Manager. A significant number of CCW applications continue to be processed, although DOJ clearances for CCW applicants continued to experience some delays.
The City of Colusa and the Colusa Police Officers Association recently agreed to a 7% base salary increase for all employees in the classification of Police Officer, and a 12% base salary increase for all employees in the classification of Police Sergeant, following recent negotiations with the union. The raises are effective retroactive to Jan. 1, 2023.
Effective Jan. 1, 2024, all employees in the Police Officer and Police Sergeant classifications will receive a three percent base salary increase. The agreement does not change, modify, or otherwise alter any other terms and conditions of the current Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Colusa and the Colusa Police Officers Association, officials said. The union’s MOU will expire on March 31, 2025.■
