Police investigate Colusa High School threat

Colusa Unified School District officials said they will respond with appropriate consequences for the individual who made a threat of violence on Monday that got the Colusa Police Department involved.

The threat was reportedly made at school on Monday, and CUSD administrators worked swiftly with law enforcement to assess any danger to students or facilities.

“While we are handling our investigation and discipline as a school district, the police department is also conducting its investigation at this time,” said Superintendent Rebecca Changus, in a notice to parents on Tuesday.

The Colusa Police Department reportedly began receiving calls on Monday afternoon from concerned parents after a threat allegedly made by a female underclassman made its rounds through the student body.

According to a CPD news release, school officials were contacted immediately to initiate a threat assessment.

“A criminal investigation was also initiated,” officials said.

Colusa police determined there were no immediate dangers to any of the Colusa Unified School District campuses/facilities.

Few details on the juvenile will be disclosed, but department officials said they spoke with  students, family members, and school staff to identify all parties involved and assess the viability of the threats.

The investigation is on-going, officials said. Anyone with any relevant information, such as screenshots of social media affiliated with this incident, are encouraged to contact the Colusa Police Department at (530) 458-7777.
