There were 320 calls for service in June for Colusa Police Department officers with 33 agency assists. This is a slight decrease from May, which was 349, reported Lt. Sara Martin, with the call volume continuing to be lower than 2021.
There were 14 in-custody arrests and four citations issued in lieu of subjects being booked in jail. The majority of the citations issued were trespassing-related offenses and driving with suspended driver’s licenses.
There were four domestic violence related arrests and two DUI related arrests made. Two additional alcohol-related arrests were made in June. There were 43 reports initiated with 40 becoming investigations.
Officers initiated 90 traffic enforcement stops and 31 citations were issued. Several of the citations issued were for cell phone use while driving. The Police Services Manager handled 75 calls for service during the month of June.
Martin also reported the 2022 Colusa County Fair Parade and Fair were successful with no related Colusa PD incidents. The California Highway Patrol Williams area office coordinated law enforcement staffing of the fair. The call volume during the weekend of the Colusa County Fair remained the same.
The Colusa Police Department has two applicants in the background investigation stage of the hiring process. The Police Department will continue to accept applications until both open positions are filled. ■
