Online child predator sentenced to state prison

A Yuba County child sex predator was sentenced to two years in state prison on Monday for sending harmful matter to a minor.

Tony Anthony Underwood, 35, who has been in jail since his arrest in February, pleaded no contest to the single charge in a plea deal with the District Attorney’s office that dismissed the felony charge of contacting a minor for a sexually expllicit purpose.

Underwood was previously convicted in 2007 after pleading guilty to having unlawful contact with a minor in Yuba County. He was sentenced to five years in state prison, but was released on parole in 2011, with an assessment that he was at high risk to reoffend, according to the Megan’s Law website.

Underwood committed the most recent crime while on felony parole on the previous conviction.

Colusa County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey A. Thompson said Underwood’s behavior has become increasingly criminal and that Undwood will be on probation three years after his release from prison.

Underwood was given 192 days credit for time served and earned. ■
