Colusa man sentenced to state prison

A Colusa mans remorse for his bad temper was not enough to keep him from being sentenced to state prison.

Jeremiah L. Moore, 44, pleaded no contest to battery on a spouse/cohabitant on Monday, in a plea deal with the District Attorneys Office that dismissed other felonies.

Colusa County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey A. Thompson sentenced Moore to two years in prison, about half of what he was facing on felony battery charge.

The Colusa Police Department arrested Moore on April 16 after an allegedly violent confrontation with his partner around 2 AM, in which he caused her traumatic injury.

Moore was also charged with false imprisonment by violence, felony vandalism, and two special allegations, although the charges were dropped because of Moores early admission and resolution of the case, according to Deputy District Attorney Bradley Morrow.

In addition to the felony sentence, Thompson sentenced Moore to one year in prison for violating the terms of an earlier probation order, although he ordered the sentence to run concurrently.

Thompson said Moore had a violent criminal history in Idaho and California, and could have received up to four years for the conviction and for committing the crime while on probation.

Moore also has several prior convictions for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He pleaded no contest in Colusa County on March 19, 2019, to driving with a .08 blood alcohol level or higher on a suspended driver’s license, in a deal with the District Attorney that dismissed charges alleging hit-and-run driving, resisting arrest, and two special allegations.

Moore was also convicted of DUI in Glenn County in 2016, in a plea deal that dropped an infraction for possession of marijuana by a driver.

Moore, who was still in custody on the day of his conviction, had served 55 actual days in jail, making him eligible for 109 days total credit against his sentence. –
