A Stonyford man pleaded no contest to a single misdemeanor charge on Monday in a plea deal with the District Attorney that dismisses a more serious felony.
Johnny R. Sanchinelli-Huttman, 38, who goes by the name Jayare, was convicted in Colusa County Superior Court on April 5, after pleading no contest to a single charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
In exchange for the plea and early resolution to the case, Colusa County District Attorney dismissed an original charge of child molestation, to which Sanchinelli-Huttman could have served up to one year in jail if convicted.
The District Attorney originally charged Sanchinelli-Huttman on Jan. 19, following the Colusa County Sheriffs Office investigation of a report that the 38-year-old man engaged in disturbing behavior motivated by a sexual interest in an individual under the age of 18.
Unlike lewd acts with a minor, a felony charge of child molestation does not require any physical contact to actually occur, according to California penal code.
Colusa County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey A. Thompson sentenced Sanchinelli-Huttman to one-year of formal probation on the misdemeanor charge.
As part of his probation, Sanchinelli-Huttman was ordered to obey all laws and to have no contact with any minor under the age of 18 without an adult present.
