Martin ” Marty” Rangel (1998-2020)

Martin Rangel, son of Alberto Rangel Sierra and Ramona  Lara Villanueva,  was born on January 19, 1998 and  passed away on May 21, 2020. He was a member of The Sacred Heart Sodality. Martin spent three years working for BC Schmidt Construction and was recently employed by CNB Construction, out of Colusa.

Martin was a 2016 graduate of Maxwell High School, where he excelled in basketball, football and baseball. His sophomore year he was a starting player, in basketball, who helped his team claim the Division V, Northern Section Championship Title. He was also was apart of the 2013 and 2014,  Division IV, Northern Section Championship Title, in football,  Martin was an All-League recipient in basketball his junior and senior year. He also attended Santa Rosa Junior College.

Martin was well-known for his humble personality and contagious smile. He was a dedicated worker for many and no task was too big, a true role model for his generation. Those who knew Martin knew that his family and friends were the most important things in his life. He loved shooting hoops, visiting the gym with his brothers and friends, jogging the streets of his home town and had a passion for food.

Martin is survived by his parents, Alberto Rangel Sierra and Ramona  Lara Villanueva; brothers, Ramon Rangel (Ahariz), Gustavo Rangel, Eduardo Rangel, Eusebio Rangel and Gregorio Rangel; sister, Alondra Rangel (Damian); aunts, Maria and Gloria Lara; uncles, Trinidad, Jorge, Guadalupe, Amador, Refugio and Alejo Lara; and nephews and nieces, Adam, Angel, Abel, Kahlia and Kaleb.

A private Mass will be held Wednesday, June 3, at 9:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Parish in Maxwell. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects, for Martin, may stand outside the church. Burial services will immediate follow, at the Maxwell Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Hall, in Maxwell, following the burial. –
