Genevieve was born on November 4, 1924, in Butte City, Ca. to Bernard and Palmira Alves. She passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, May 28, 2020, in Maxwell, Ca.
Genevieve graduated from Glenn County High School in 1942, she attended a postgraduate school in Colusa, Ca. then worked for Colusa County public works, and she then found her home until she retired at Colusa-Glenn Farm Credit. During that time, she met Virgil Azevedo, the love of her life and they were married January 7, 1945. They started their married life living in Bright, Ca. but made their way back to Maxwell where they raised their two sons and their nephew Bill Baker. They loved hosting parties at their home, where food and spirits were always plenty.
Virgil and Ginny loved to travel when they retired. Their favorite places were Bucks Lake and Diamond Lake where their passion for fishing, camping and spending quality time with family took place.
Genevieve was a member of the Luso American Organization, The American Legion Auxiliary, The Sacred Heart Sodality, The Stitch and Chatter Club, and several local card groups.
Those who knew Ginny knew that her family and her love of God were the most important things in her life.
Genevieve is survived by her two sons and their spouses: Tim (Celeste) Azevedo, Mark (Diana) Azevedo; her four grandchildren: Patrick (Nikki) Azevedo, Jeremy (Cheri) Azevedo, Kimberly (Dino) McCarty and Nick Azevedo; nine great-grandchildren: Brittany Azevedo, Derrick Azevedo, Jordan Azevedo, Matthew Azevedo, Kendall McCarty, Hannah Azevedo, Hollie Azevedo, Bailey McCarty, Hayden McCarty; one great-great grandchild: Sophia Genevieve Azevedo; her sister Marie Azevedo Spooner of Williams, Ca. and Kathleen (Dunell) Hurlburt of Willows, Ca. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Virgil Joseph Azevedo, her sisters Bernadine Soeth, Alice Carvalho and brothers, Allen Alves and Manuel Bernard Alves.
