Leta May Bowers, 78, of College City, CA, passed away on September 11, 2016. She was born August 17, 1938, in Oroville, CA, to Harry ” Hap” Owen and Mary Newell.
In 1956, Leta married her husband of 60 years, Willis ” Bill” Bowers and raised their family in College City.
In her early years, she was an avid bowler in the Womens League at Riverside Lanes. Leta and her husband knew how to western swing dance and they were the ” Ozzy and Harriet” of Western Swing. She enjoyed playing Bingo and having lunch with her ” Lunch Ladies.
Leta is survived by her children, Steve (Linda) Bowers of Colusa; and Julie (Kevin) Parker of Sweet Home, OR. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lindsey Bowers, Jennifer Arant, Joseph Bowers, and Katie Bowers; and great-grandchildren Jade Bowers, Kaden Ockerman, Madison Bowers, Jaxson Bowers, and Avery Rodriguez. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
A Celebration of Letas Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at the Community Building located at the Colusa County Fairgrounds, 1303 10th Street, Colusa.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations to be made to the Arbuckle Fire Department, PO Box 727, Arbuckle, CA 95912.
