For the last eight years, unbeknownst to the community, several employees of the Colusa County Sheriffs Department have participated in an non-departmental ˜adopt a family program.
” We work with a lot of different agencies and we will hear about a local family that could use a little help during the holiday season,” said Janice Bell, a employee of the Colusa County Sheriffs Office.
The Officers open up their wallets while donating their time in hopes of giving the family a magical Christmas.
” A different family is chosen each year in which they provide us a wish list,” said Bell, ” most often the list is items they need with a few items that they want.
This year a family from Arbuckle was selected and their list included: backpacks, school supplies, clothing jackets, a few toys and other essential items.
” We were also able to get the family a couple of dressers and storage systems for their home,” said Bell.
Bell commented that all of the items were purchased from participating staff members with the help of a few organizations.
” This year the Sacramento River Fire Fighters Association donated $500 to our cause,” said Bell.
The Sheriffs Employees, on their own time, will deliver the gifts to the family on Wednesday, December 23.
