Loving husband, father and grandfather, Robert “Bob” L
ee Lytal, of Arbuckle, CA passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
Robert was born September 13, 1936 in Beebe, Arkansas to Virgil Lee Lytal and Leora Marguerite Driskill. His parents moved to Arbuckle while he was still an
infant.
Bob retired from the California Highway Patrol after twenty three years of service. He volunteered with the Arbuckle Fire Department for many years, served in the National Guard,
and was a Colusa County Sheriffs Deputy.
His happiest time was spent with his family; his lifetime love of 58 years, Helen Phelan Lytal, children, Melinda (Craig) Wright, Robert, Kathleen (Frank) McGowan, Darcy (Scott) McCracken, twelve grandchildren, and eight (soon to be nine) great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Lytal Howell, Glenda Lytal Gustafson, brother Virgil Anthony Lytal
and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents James Clarence and Mary Matilda Beem Driskill, his parents, and sister Johnnie Lytal Meador.
Bob was an avid genealogist and longtime member of the Arbuckle Golf Club.
After retiring, Bob relished what he considered to be the perfect life, playing golf and savoring time with friends and family. He loved life and was perpetually puttering.
Bob found that saying final goodbyes to old friends difficult, so instead of a traditional service, the family proposes a ” Living Memorial.” That is, rather than taking time out of your day to dress
up and attend a formal service, his family firmly believes Bob would ask you to take that time as he would have. Play a round of golf with your best buddies, attend a special event, enjoy a cup
of coffee with friends, spend time with your children and grandchildren, surprise your loved one with a night on the town, re-establish ties with a long forgotten friend or relative¦.the list could
go on and on. Whatever you choose to do, dedicate it to his memory. He would be honored.
His family plans to gather at a later date to spread his ashes in a manner yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Bobs name to the Arbuckle Volunteer Fire Department or the CHP Widows and Orphans Fund.
