Watch Your Backs

I love America. I love our freedoms. I love that I have the freedom to drive what I want, to own my home and to travel where I want to travel.

Tom and I are not wealthy by any means, but we have both worked hard and paid our own way throughout our lives. Anything we own, we worked to get for ourselves.

I don’t ever want to live in a socialist country.

These radicals spouting ideas of government-owned grocery stores, giving Medicare to all (including illegal aliens) and taxing the wealthy to support even those who don’t work are just wrong.

I grew up with family-owned grocery stores. My best friend growing up lived behind the grocery store owned by her family. What will happen to family-owned stores if the government takes over?

I paid into Social Security my whole working life. I’m in no mood to give up what I worked for in order to fund those who did nothing to earn it.

Look around. Watch your backs. When I see riots in our streets and the chaos in France, it more than upsets me.

Last spring, my daughter Velvet and I were blessed to visit Italy. Yesterday, I saw hordes of Palestinian flag-waving rioters charging the beautiful Colosseum in Rome. It more than upsets me when these so-called peaceful protests, as described by some leaders, turn into riots, with looters destroying privately owned businesses and stealing from their livelihoods.

Is that what we want in our country?

I hope not. Today, I saw a yard sign. It read, “Enough chaos, be Americans.”

I wish and pray that we can be what we were before.

Before the radical behavior became the norm. Before disrespect for our president became acceptable.

I would love to go back. I haven’t liked every president we’ve had, but I have never publicly attacked any of them.

Social media is full of disgusting references to our president and his family. That is not how we were raised to act.

Keep praying for wisdom and proper behavior.

Life could be better today.
