Check it out! Bookmarks Ready: Summer Reading Season Has Arrived

As summer approaches, the Colusa County Free Library is preparing for another exciting season of new releases arriving across all seven branch libraries. Thanks to the continued generosity of the Friends of the Colusa County Free Library, a wide variety of highly anticipated new titles have been purchased for local readers to enjoy this May and June.

The Friends of the Library continue to play an essential role in strengthening the library’s collection, ensuring that patrons throughout Colusa County have access to bestselling authors, popular new fiction, and titles for readers of all ages.

Below is just a small sampling of the many new titles recently ordered and arriving throughout the late spring and early summer months.

Upcoming May Releases (Titles are ordered and in processing)

Adult: “Upward Bound” by Woody Brown, and “The Foursome” by Christina Baker Kline.

Young Adult: “In the Blood” by April Henry.

Popular Authors: “Ironwood” by Michael Connelly, and “The Divorce” by Frieda McFadden.

Upcoming June Releases (Titles are ordered and will be processed after their release date)

Adult: “All We Have Is Time” by Amy Tordoff, and “The Unicorn Hunters” by Katherine Arden.

Young Adult: “The Secret World” of Briar Rose by Cindy Pham, “Thornbird” by E. Kennedy.

Popular Authors: “Whistler” by Ann Patchett, and “It Could Have Been Her” by Lisa Jewell.

Patrons may notice that some titles appear in the library catalog before they are immediately available on shelves. Every new item purchased must first be unpacked, cataloged, labeled, covered, and processed by staff before it can circulate. While staff work hard to make new materials available as quickly as possible, processing does take time. To offset the processing wait, all materials purchased by the Friends of the Colusa County Free Library are reserved exclusively for Colusa County patrons during the first six months after purchase. This policy helps ensure that local residents have priority access to materials made possible through community donations and support.

Readers are encouraged to place holds through the library catalog, browse new release displays at branch libraries, and check back regularly as additional summer titles continue to arrive.
