Life is Good: Dreams come true

This is the week. The long-awaited trip to Italy is at hand.

By Sunday, we will be landing in Rome and the adventure will begin.

For most of my life, I have dreamed of visiting Italy.

As much as I have longed to make this journey, the fact that at last I will do it with my daughter makes it even better.

She has listened to me talk about it for most of her life as well. She knows how much it means to me and is excited to share it with me.

We are compatible travel companions and have gone on a number of adventures over the years.

As I’ve gotten older, and especially now with the bum ankle, I’ve slowed down a bit. I keep trying though. It’s not in my nature to give up. I know my limitations and I know when to take a break. I’ll be fine.

I’ll throw coins in the Trevi Fountain, I’ll float down the Venice Canal in a gondola and I’ll gaze at the magical ceiling at the Sistine Chapel. There are many more things to see and do there, so we’ll try to pack it all in.

The sights, the history and of course the food are there to enjoy.

Yes, if you wait long enough, dreams do come true.

It’s not the most important thing I’ve done in my life, but it is definitely a high ranker on my list.

I’ve had a bucket list for years. As I have marked items off, I’ve added a new one to replace it. I wonder what should be next?

But for today, life is good.
