COLUSA, CA (MPG) – A short-handed Colusa girls basketball team started last Friday night’s Sacramento Valley League contest against Winters on a 10-2 run, but could not keep up the pace, ultimately falling 30-37 to the Warriors.

On a night when baskets were hard to come by for both teams, the RedHawks rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Winters 11-2, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

Braelyn Santana led Colusa with nine points, while Abby Coronado chipped in with eight.

Earlier last week, the RedHawks made short work of visiting Willows as they posted a 47-29 victory.

Peyton Miller recorded a double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds, while Baylee Guizar added nine points.

Finishing the regular season as the SVL’s fifth place team, Colusa (10-17, 4-8) was seeded No. 11 in the Northern Section Division IV playoffs and traveled to Yreka on Feb. 17 to face the No. 6 seeded Miners with the winner advancing to a second round game on Feb. 19.
