COLUSA, CA. (MPG) — The Friends of the Colusa County Library will host an author night with Bob Mills on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 6:30 p.m.
Mills, author of “The Laugh Makers”, will join the program by Zoom. The event will stream at the Colusa County Library, 738 Market St., Colusa. Residents may also watch from home. A Zoom link will be released before the event.
The Laugh Makers examines the writers behind classic television comedy and focuses on the gag writers who shaped variety shows during television’s early decades. The book includes backstage stories and photographs from the era that helped define performers such as Bob Hope.
Mills is a San Francisco native who served in the U.S. Navy and later earned degrees from San Francisco State University and the University of California Hastings College of the Law. After practicing law for 10 years, he moved to Hollywood and wrote for “The Dinah Shore Show” and “The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts.” He joined Hope’s writing staff in 1977 and later worked as a writer and enrichment lecturer based on those experiences.
Copies of “The Laugh Makers” are available through Bookshop.org, with a portion of sales benefiting the Friends of the Colusa County Library. A Kindle edition is also available on Amazon.
